ANNOUNCE

The ANNOUNCE command permits users to make a general announcement to all stations connected to the PacketCluster. If no ualifier is specified, all users on the local node receive the announcement.

Syntax ANNounce message-text

/NODECALL This command allows you to send a general announcement only to those stations connected to the PacketCluster node specified by the "nodecall" qualifier.

Syntax ANNounce/callsign message-text

Example

ANN/N4ZC Anyone hear the ZK3?

This example would announce only on the N4ZC node in North Carolina

/DISTRO This command allows you to send announcements to a list of users contained on a prepared distribution list. If you wish to create such a list, arrange it with your sysop. Examples of lists currently in use are VHF for VHF users, LP for contributing writers for the Longpath, BOD for the NADXC Board of Directors, GOLD for users of KA-Gold software, etc.

Syntax ANN/distroname message text

Example

ANN/VHF Good opening on 6M!

/FULL This command is necessary if a Cluster-wide announcement is desired. All users receive the announcement, regardless of the node they are connected to, or what user-state they are in (mail-send, database updating or whatever). If the /full qualifier is not specified, the announcement goes only to users connected to the local node. Users are strongly encouraged to use good judgement when using the /full qualifier, and use it only for announcements of interest to the entire network.

Syntax ANN/FULL message-text

Example

ANN/FULL 160 m is open to JA!

/SYSOP This command specifies that the announcement be made to the console terminals of the PacketCluster node stations, and to any stations the sysops may have designated as remote sysops. This command is used primarily by the sysops to communicate messages required for network control.

Syntax ANN/SYSOP message text

Example

ANN/SYSOP New equip't on HSV node
